Weekly Food for Thought: 06/05/2018

Some things to chew on this week:

1.) Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran deletes her Instagram after months of harassment.

2.) Serious backlash for IPSY - a transphobic video and the silencing of comments calling it out.

3.) A small asteroid crashed down in Africa and was only spotted hours before impact. Yikes!

4.) Dollar Stores could be the at the forefront in the fight against 'food desserts' in low-income areas.

5.) Miss America is scrapping the swimsuit segment of their pageant. About damn time.

~13 Things That Frighten Me~

To preface, I was heavily inspired by blog about a lattewho recently published a version of their own on thirteen fears they have and it was very informative and interesting - I couldn't resist making a post of my own and attempting to explore some of my own inner fears and things that make me go ~SQUICK~!

Networking Events

....Most Men
If you were bitten by a very scary dog once in your life, nobody would bat an eye if you said you were now afraid of dogs. It'd be a perfectly natural response to one traumatic instance in your life. Rape and Sexual Assault
Piggy-backing off the previous fear, the idea of having your body violated or harmed i…

A night when the veil is thin and spirits on the other side cross over to visit us. The Witches' New Year.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good party and some effects makeup as much as anyone else though! Many of our modern Halloween traditions derive from the Celtic harvest festival of Samhain (roughly pronounced sow-en or sah-ven), including costumes, carving pumpkins, and bobbing for apples.

So, what are some witchy ways to celebrate Halloween? Never fear, I've got you covered:

Divination With Apples
Bobbing for apples is messy, so instead of ruining your glamorous (or scary?) Halloween makeup, try this easy form of divination - peel an apple and toss the whole peel, hopefully still in one piece, ove…
