Wishtrend's #thegoodpackage Review

Quite a few of my favorite Youtubers have been 'repping' this company and their products lately (like Sharmander and Caricakes - who also have their own affiliate boxes) and after reading a ton of reviews about their Green Tea Powder Wash and the Vitamin C Serum I knew I had to check it out.

So, one afternoon, during a boring work shift, I popped onto their website to see what was up. And this limited-time deal struck my fancy: #thegoodpackage for $80 containing only cruelty-free products w/ proceeds going to an animal charity.

How could I say no?

So what is Wishtrend?

Basically, Wishtrend is a retailer in Korea that offers their in-house brand along with a few other ethical beauty brands. They have select locations in Korea, but ship worldwide. Frequently they have package deals you can buy, such as the one I purchased, and they tend to be great deals since you get a ton of freebies with them.

Wishtrend also partners with influencers, as I mentioned above, and you can get a lo…

Short Skirt, Long Jacket: What Trendy Korean Girls Are Wearing Right Now

Tokyo used to be the fashion capitol of East Asia, but with the rise in popularity of K-dramas and K-pop groups like BTS and BlackPink, South Korea is putting itself on the map in terms of street fashion.

Here are just a few of the trends in Seoul this year for spring and summer fashion. How many of them are you going to incorporate?

Aviator Glasses

In Seoul, the rounded Harry Potter-esque glasses are on the out, and the always timeless aviator style is worming its way back onto the street fashion scene. This style can be seen in sunglasses and regular glasses, and worn by just about anyone, whether they need corrected vision or not. I'm not a huge fan of aviators, because I don't think they suit my face, but this lady is rocking 'em!

Over-sized Cardigan and Jackets

The heroines in all my favorite K-dramas have been rocking the over-sized blazer look since last winter and I doubt this style is going away any time soon. Fabrics will get lighter and the dresses underneath a b…

DermaSuction Review: Can You Really Vacuum Out Your Pores?

When my roommate first picked up this pore extracting device from Target, courtesy of the "As Seen on TV" section - I thought there was no way this thing could be as effective as the advertising claims.

And I'm certainly not the first person to review this little gadget; see here, here and here.

But after last year's harsh winter and the horrible start 2019 has gotten off to (we're talking losing a job, engaging in seven hour depression naps, and overall forgetting what food and showers are) my skin is in pretty rough condition. Clogged up, even.

So what is the DermaSuction? According to their website, it is a powerful, yet gentle vacuum that you can use anywhere on your face or body to suck out gunk trapped in your pores. The demo videos promise a lot of satisfyingly gross results - on par with the nasty that is Dr. Pimple Popper.

So, after watching the demos and clicking through a couple of reviews, I decided to give this thing a try myself:
1. First things fir…

The Crème Shop - Chia Seed Product Review

Health and wellness bloggers love to talk about the health benefits of chia seeds. They were a staple in the Mayan and Aztec diets, are packed full of nutrition, and were recently named a "super food." Today they appear in everything from smoothie bowls to overnight oats.

But have you ever thought about putting them on your face?

Yeah, me neither.

That's why I was so surprised to come across this product line from The Crème Shop- one of my favorite Korean makeup and skin care brands - and naturally, I had to have it.

The Cleanser is your standard squeeze tube, white with a crisp green cap, but the Toner and Moisturizer come in clear plastic containers so you can easily see the consistency and color of the product. Both are kind of milky in hue, while the Cleanser is a white cream straight out of the tube.

I noticed right away that the Cleanser has a bit of medicinal scent to it - it's not strong but it's definitely there. Otherwise it lathered up nicely and felt…

3 Favorite Lip Products for the Season

Lip products tend to be pretty hit or miss with me - I don't wear bright lip colors and I don't like anything that feels sticky or heavy on my lips. Fortunately, I've narrowed down my three favorite lip products to use this winter:

Burt's Bee Lip Balm

NYX Matte Lipstick in Stockholm

Laura Geller Nude Kisses lip gloss
⧫ ⧫ ⧫ During the cold winter months, I find it absolutely crucial to use a good lip balm. I've tried a lot of different ones over the years but I keep coming back to Burt's Bees. Made from natural beeswax, this balm helps seal in moisture and leaves a nice tingly feeling on my lips.  ⧫ ⧫ ⧫ Liquid lipsticks are new to me, so being able to test a few of them thanks to Birchbox turned me onto NYX's soft matte lip creams. If anyone has any tips to keep the color from drying out and cracking halfway through the day, please let me know!  ⧫ ⧫ ⧫ I don't like lip glosses, not since the days of Lipsmackers or Lisa Frank, but this Laura Geller one might ha…

The Last IPSY Bag, Ever.

Pfft, all my selfies are posted sans filter. Nice try, #ipsy.

So this is the last IPSY bag I will ever receive. After I got the notification that this bag had shipped, I promptly cancelled my membership with them and I have no regrets at all. I've been using their subscription for over a year now and I just wasn't feeling their selection process - I got too many products in too many colors (did I seriously need another black felt-tip eyeliner!?) that I just wouldn't use. Not cost effective.

So what's ironic is that I actually like everything that came in this bag. A nice parting gift, I suppose.
