Oh...the tragedy.

I have suffered a great loss, recently. My beloved HP laptop has passed away. I guess the motherboard fried itself out - the hard drive is still intact and functional, just currently inaccessible. I'm using my really old DELL which has XP on it and it's SOOO SLOOOWWWW. I gave it to my brother to sort out a while back and this was the best he could do for it. Blargh. The boy and my brother spent last weekend really tearing this thing apart to see if it could be revived and it was announced dearly departed soon after. I, actually, really miss it. So now I'm keeping my eyes peeled for an ePC or a netbook that's cheap and has more than a 50 gig hard drive. ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ ✄ In other news I filmed my first Avon makeup review today You can watch it here:

Goth Challenge Week 17

Favorite Goth Book and Film First off, I'd like to say this is the last entry I'll be doing for the Goth Challenge. I'm just having a hard time keeping up with this one and some of this stuff, frankly, doesn't apply to me. I will continue with the Lolita Challenge on my other blog though, so keep an eye on that one! Moving on.... Welcome to my home. I'm not a huge fan of vampire literature or films, but Dracula is really the exception for me. I know a lot of people don't really dig the book (and it IS a bit wordy, even for the period's standards) but I adore it. Something about it just allows me to get completely lost on it. And as a linguist, I find the use of language in centuries past to be REALLY fascinating.  Book aside, my favorite film adaptation is Francis Ford Coppola's - let's face it, Gary Oldman is great in every role he plays ( Sid Vicious? ) and his portrayal of Count Dracula is no exception. With Winona Ryder, Keanu R

Pocketful of Sunshine

What really amazes me right now is that the sun is shining. Normally, I hiss and seethe at the sun during the hot summer months but so far this year it's been cold and rainy. So a little sunshine to help the garden grow is a good thing. I put in my first Avon order last night. Two customers. Two. I don't count. I sold (maybe) $50 worth of stuff. I basically get NO commission for that little. But it's a start. I don't plan to give up. Campaign 14 starts today and there is some really lovely nail stuff for sale on the catalog. I'm gonna push that like no one's business! I created a League of Legends account last night. The boy (kind of) insisted. I don't much care for playing it but I'll give it a go. If it really pisses me off, I'll just uninstall and carry on. I took Shadow outside today. She rolled around on the sidewalk and chewed on some grass. Today has been alright. I'm okay.

Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore...

I went to the doctor today, I needed to get my pill prescriptions renewed and do a follow up for some stuff. Anywho....I decided to walk home instead of taking a bus and while I was on the outskirts of town (nearing home) I happened to glance to my right...and stopped dead in my tracks. You see that funnel shape coming down in the distance? That, sir, is a tornado.  It wasn't particularly warm today. It was humid, that's for sure. Otherwise, just a bit cloudy, no forecast for rain or any severe weather and yet, there it was!  I was, admittedly, a little nervous. I couldn't tell how big it was or where it was headed. And I was smack dab in the open by the highway. Really nervous. But after snapping these photos on my cell, I continued on and the thing disappeared. Oh well. Still pretty damn cool though!

Goth Challenge Week 16

The Hardest To Procure: There are some things in our wardrobe that took us a long time to acquire or a lot of money/patience/bribery/threats to attain. For me, the hardest piece to acquire would have to be my recent package from Japan containing none other than the Silent Moon Long OP from Moi-meme-Moitie.  I never in a million years would have dreamed of owning such a luscious piece of clothing, but as luck would have it - I bought a very rare Moitie one piece from a local Lolita (which didn't fit) and someone from Japan recognized it's rarity and offered a trade. Seriously....what a steal.

Avon Calling!

Rawr. So, how about some quick updates as to how things are going these days: 1. We had some electrical shortage in the house and so my bedroom, the nearby bathroom, and my brother's overhead light have no power. I'm running the show on extension cords and stand up lamps. It's obnoxious.  2. International Lolita Day. I rocked that shit - check my other blog for more details. 3. I got a job! I'm now a representative of Avon. Did you know they still sell that stuff? Anywho, I watched Edward Scissorhands again recently and was reminded of Avon makeup. So a quick check on their website confirmed that they are, still, quite successful as a company. I did a good amount of research before setting up a consultation with a local representative. She got me hooked up right away and I've already made a couple sales. Yay! Check me out! 4. I got a coffee press for 50 cents at a yard sale. Super happy, because it mak
