What I Found Interesting This Week - September
Hello, I figured this post couldn't be more timely since a lot of interesting things happened this week...and yes, I'm about to use this as a bragging moment. Which is something I rarely do, so you're welcome.
I launched a newsletter for my company today! What!? Since getting promoted to Interpreter Engagement Specialist at my place of employment I've been working more directly to promote trainings and events, keep up with our social media followers and, you guessed it, engage the interpreter. Starting an interpreter-focused newsletter was on the docket and our first issue went live today!
You can't imagine the bundle of nerves sitting in my chest knowing that 51 emails went out to both interpreters and company staff members this morning - I keep waiting for people to pop into my office and either tell me how neat it is or how "interesting" it is - which is Minnesota code for lame.
But since there are a lot of other new and fascinating things happening this week, let's get this show on the road:
1.) Brave or Broke? Girlboss has a breakdown on not spending during the month of September! Because sometimes we all need a spending reset? I wish my utility bill was on board with this....
2.) Another reason I don't feel like bothering with Netflix. On October 1st, they plan to remove Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. Twats.
3.) Obesity and smoking are often considered the highest health risks for the American people, but social isolation and loneliness are rivaling them. Social media may help explain why rates of social isolation and loneliness are climbing among youth, as popular platforms blur the lines between appearing – and actually feeling – connected, says Joshua M. Smyth, a researcher in the department of biobehavioral health at Pennsylvania State University.
4.) Sorry, fitness and lifestyle bloggers, but probiotics are mostly useless and some can actually hurt you! I'll just stick with my kimchi and kombucha, thanks....
5.) There are a few fall fashion trends on my radar: mostly plaid (no-brainer!), leopard print, and Little House on the Prairie inspired pieces.
